Week 10: Out of Focus

This may have been better suited for the bokeh assignment, but we’re talking about being out of focus this week and this shot has a story, so read on…

Last spring I had spent much of the day at a local garden taking photos of flowers, and every single photo was just really terrible and boring and predictable. In frustration I started walking to a new spot and let my camera dangle from my wrist.

“Sheesh,” I lamented as I trudged along, “The way I’m shooting today, I may as well just click as I walk.” And because I was ultra-annoyed, I hit the shutter button with a vengeance just to spite myself and the camera gods.

This shot is the result, pretty much SOOC. It was the most interesting shot I took all afternoon and it was born from a bit of frustration, the swing of an arm, and a whole lot of luck. I couldn’t re-create this shot if I tried, but I’m happy to have it and will move on.

That is, I’ll move on to Leah Birth  at Express www.birthexpressblog.com.

  3. That is gorgeous! I can relate. I went to Disneyworld last week and purposely didn’t focus on photography–just wanted to have fun. I put my camera in auto and just snapped for memories. My favorite picture ended up being one that I snapped from the waist and happened to catch my son elated as he was chasing some bubbles. 🙂
